Cyclin E

Cyclin E complexes with CDK2 to regulate cell cycle progression from G1 to S phase.

Immunohistochemical expression

• Trophoblastic columns of anchoring villi.

• It is amplified and over-expressed in a large range of carcinomas, including those of breast, cervix, endometrium, ovary, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, and head and neck. 

Diagnostic utility

• Differentiation of epithelioid trophoblastic tumour (positive) from placental site nodule (negative)1.
