Erythropoietin, EPO

Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein hormone that induces erythropoiesis. Tumour cell induction of EPO is responsible for polycythemia in a number of malignancies.

Immunohistochemical expression

• A high proportion of primary (84%), as well as metastatic, renal cell carcinoma1.

• Malignant mesothelioma1.
