Focal uterine serous carcinoma and endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma

Uterine serous carcinoma and intra-endometrial carcinoma may occur focally within endometrial polyps or non-polypoidal endometrium in the elderly. There is usually a sharp transition from atrophic to severely atypical epithelium. The appearances of serous carcinoma may be mimicked by reactive atypia and oxyphil metaplasia.
