Malignant solitary fibrous tumour

Malignant solitary fibrous tumours:

• are associated with chest pain, shortness of breathe and pleural effusion

• the tumour is more than 10 cm in diameter

• the mitotic rate is more than 4/10 HPF

• increased cellularity with atypia and necrosis

• invasive margins with infiltration of adjacent structures

• areas of high-grade sarcoma

• loss of CD34 and positivity for CD31, p53 and Ki-67 are associated with aggressive behaviour
