PTEN

PTEN is a tumour suppressor gene mapping to chromosome 10q23. Germline mutations occur in Cowden disease. Somatic mutations occur in various carcinomas.

Diagnostic utility

• Loss of PTEN expression occurs more often in uterine high grade endometrioid carcinomas than in uterine serous carcinomas.
