Signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)

The signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) molecules are responsible for the transcription of various differentiation and regulatory proteins in breast carcinomas. The transcription factor STAT5a is important for mammary gland differentiation and growth.

Immunohistochemical expression

STAT5 (cytoplasmic and nuclear staining):

• normal breast epithelium, adipocytes, leukocytes and endothelial cells1
• secretory carcinoma of the breast.
• Mammary Analogue Secretory Carcinoma of Salivary Gland
