Spindle cell myxoid liposarcoma

This category has been proposed as a low-grade variant of myxoid liposarcoma in children and adolescents.

Histopathology

The majority of the tumour consists of morphologically typical myxoid liposarcoma. There is a transition to a spindle cell component. Mitotic activity is low and there is no necrosis. Both components show "chicken wire" capillaries.

Prognosis

Local recurrences and metastases occur.
