Cytokeratin 1

Cytokeratin 1 is a high molecular weight cytokeratin (65 to 68kd). As well as being expressed by keratinising squamous epithelium, it is a component of the multiprotein kininogen receptor complex on endothelial cells. It is detected by the monoclonal antibody 34bB4.34bB4

AE3 reacts with all type II keratins, including CK1.

CK1 is commonly paired with CK10 in stratified squamous epithelium.

CK10 is co-expressed in normal and neoplastic squamous epithelium but not in normal or neoplastic endothelia, nor in any of the CK1-positive soft tissue tumours examined.
