Immunoreactivity was scored as for the German Immunohistochemical Scoring System:
percentage of positive cells (PPS); 0=negative, 1 = up to 10% positive, 2 = 11 to 50% positive, 3 = 51 to 80% positive, 4 = more than 800% positive
Staining intensity (SI); 0 = negative, 1 = weak, 2 = moderate, 3 = strong.
Score = PSS x SI (maximum score = 12). A score of 3 or less is essentially "negative".
