Immunohistochemical expression

• Almost all cases of hairy cell leukaemia

• Frequently in monocytoid B cell lymphoma

• 30-80% of splenic lymphoma with villous lymphocytes

• Some cases of other low grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma:

• • lymphoplasmacytoid lymphoma

  • mantle cell lymphoma

  • follicle centre cell lymphoma

DBA44 is not expressed by

• splenic marginal zone lymphoma

Diagnostic utility

• Hairy cell leukaemia, particularly the detection of minimal residual disease in bone marrow.
