CD4

Antibodies are effective on paraffin-embedded sections1.

Immunohistochemical expression

Helper/inducer T lymphocytes, monocyte/macrophages and Langerhans' cells. It is not expressed by B cells. CD4 and CD8 are mutually exclusive. The current antibodies are reactive only with fresh or frozen tissue.

Diagnostic utility

Identifies Helper/inducer T lymphocytes. Most T cell lymphomas are CD4+/CD8-.
