HMGA2, HMGIC

HMGA2 is a DNA-binding protein, a member of the high mobility group protein gene family³. The gene is aberrantly expressed in a range of mesenchymal neoplasms, in association with chromosomal translocations involving 12q15.

Immunohistochemical expression

• Neoplastic cells of aggressive angiomyxoma of the vulva¹. Aberrant expression appears to be induced by t(8;12) translocation².

NOT expressed in:

• Angiofibroblastoma¹

• fibroepithelial stromal polyp¹

Diagnostic utility

• Diagnosis of aggressive angiomyxoma of the vulva.
