This is a lectin produced by the gorse plant. It recognises the Fuc-alpha-1-2-Gal linkage in fucosylated oligosaccharides. UEA1 binds the H blood group antigen, CEA and a fucosylated protein on endothelium. Its use in immunohistochemistry requires either biotinylation of the lectin or the use of a biotinylated anti-Ulex antibody.
Reactivity
