Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, KSHV

ORF73 is a gene product expressed during latent infection. vIL-6 and K8.1 are early lytic gene products. ORF59 is also a lytic antigen. Primary effusion lymphomas, including the extra-cavitary variant, show the pattern of latent infection (ORF73+ / ORF59- / vIL-6- / K8.1-).

KSHV infection is associated with Kaposi's sarcoma, plamsablastic lymphoma and germinotropic lymphoprliferative disease.
