TLE1 is a promisingly specific and sensitive marker for synovial sarcoma.
D2-40 has been shown to be directed against the podoplanin antigen, which explains why in prior papers D2-40 and "anti-podoplanin" have shown almost identical patterns of staining!
GLUT-1 joins the growing list of antigens being advocated for the differentiation of benign from malignant mesothelium. It is also useful in cystic squamous cell lesions of the head and neck.
Mammaglobin is the most specific available marker for breast carcinoma.
In combination, TRAF1 and c-Rel are useful in the diagnosis of classical Hodgkin lymphoma and in the differentiation of primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma from other diffuse large B-cell lymphomas.
I was sufficiently infuriated by the comments about medical pathologists in James Surowiecki's book "The Wisdom of Crowds" (page 33 of the Abacus paperback edition) to post a reply at http://e-immunohistochemistry.info/Surowiecki.htm
