Mucinous cystic neoplasms of lung, pancreas and ovary

Mucinous cystic neoplasms occur in the ovary, pancreas, appendix and, less often, in the lung, liver, skin, prostate, bladder and breast. They account for up to 5% of pancreatic exocrine tumours and up to 50% of ovarian borderline tumours. Pulmonary mucinous cystic neoplasms comprise a spectrum from benign through borderline to malignant. Due to the similarity of such tumours arising in various organs, differentiating a pulmonary primary from a metastasis is problematic.
